It's been a while since I last wrote something and that's because it's been a very busy Summer ! This past Friday I was with my counterpart from WNCD The Wolf Fast Freddie Woak as we did our huge Biketoberfest promotion at New Castle Harley Davidson! We had 93 qualifiers from WNCD 93.3 and the 2 Wheel power hour attending the Beach Party. Food, beverages and prizes were given out throughout the evening. This year's Biketoberfest winner was Wayne Dawson who hails from Beaver, Pennsylvania! Wayne is a HOG member at New castle Harley Davidson, rides a Harley and is looking forward to attending Biketoberfest. Special thanks to Su Kilar Account Manager for Clear Channel and to my co host Roy Dyckman for pitching in throughout the evening.  This year's Biketoberfest will be the same in some respects but different in others. I will be riding the smallest motorcycle I've ever taken to Daytona Beach, a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 250. I've taken this bike to Indianapolis and to Watkins Glen , New York for the Fingerlakes Rally but now it's going to rack up at least 2,000 miles down and back going to Daytona! I had thought about flying but I'd have to get a bike or something down there then I'd have to have someone take me to the airport and back…such a hassle who needs it and I like to ride anyways so Little Biggie as I call it will be my mode of transportation for the 2012 Biketoberfest.

There are many things to do in Daytona and some say Biketoberfest is actually better in many respects than Bike Week. Less crowded, nicer weather and more family oriented. Oh sure there is the rumble of big twins always present just not at 3 in the morning :) This year I'm heading over to Daytona Speedway to check out to amateur racing. Looking forward to hanging on the wall and having some fun in the sun.

 About 2 weeks ago I thought I'd combine fishing and boating and did an overnight Kayak trip with (now retired from Clear Channel) Carl Vath . It was a blast with some of the most awesome scenery. I was looking to hook up a Northern Pike but that didn't happen but I did see a kid haul out a 3 foot carp! The Tuscarawas River was our choice and it averaged about 2 to 4 feet the entire 14 1/2 mile trip. We used NTR canoe Livery to transport our kayaks and gear to Navarre for the trip down the Tuscarawas River! If you're looking for something a little different in the next couple of weekends this might be the ticket for you!

 Finally October is what many consider the best riding month. The Fall Foliage is spectacular! Plan a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains, Deals Gap or the Fingerlakes Region of New York or even to the Wayne National Forest in Southern Ohio. As we say each and every week swing your leg over your bike , thumb that starter and a great adventure awaits you.
