Ron Verb
Background Check
Ron grew up in Medina, Ohio and started in broadcasting at the age of 14, following in his older brother's footsteps at WHLO in Akron. Former Youngstown talk-show host Nick Anthony schooled Verb in the "art" of talk radio at WHLO. Ron left the Akron station more than a decade later to go to WHBC radio in Canton. After several years in Canton, then WKBN program director Pete Gabriel called to offer a spot on WKBN radio, which had just hired Youngstown talk show icon Dan Ryan. Ryan worked mornings 8:30 till noon and Verb worked nights from 7-11. As the talk format expanded the Verb show moved to 3-7 pm. Ron Verb  has been hosting a show on WKBN for 28 years, making it the longest running show on the station.

Weekday afternoons just wouldn't be the same with out the daily reality check with Ron Verb. From politics to lifestyles, sports to music, Ron dissects it all with help from the Valley's best callers.

Iran and Oil Prices
Tuesday 02-21-2012 5:43pm ET

Everytime something happens in the middle east, we all end up paying for it at the pump. I'm sure you have heard the talk about 5 bucks a gallon by spring now that Iran has cut off oil to Europe and France.  Forget about the fact that our use is down, and with the mild winter there has been a lot less oil used for heating that stayed in the chain.  However, the oil companies are shipping this stuff to China and India and still making a good buck off of all of us at the pump.  When all is said and done, I"m sure they will report record profits again like the last time gas prices went to 4 bucks a gallon.  Time will tell if the Iran problem will turn into another war, which will cost the country in more than dollars...

GM RECORD PROFITS
Thursday 02-16-2012 3:40pm ET

On a day that GM has record breaking profits of 7.2 pretax billion in North America alone, Mitt Romney is in Michigan blasting the auto industry bailout that saved the auto industry.  The bailout, which were all loans, saved GM and all the jobs after they downsized as well as the parts supply chain that would of been wiped out.  All 47500 blue collar workers will get a $7000 profit sharing check, that will also have a big impact on the local economy.  If we listened to guys like Romney GM Lordstown and GM itself would of been closed and the machines sold to China or someone else..
