Dan grew up in Northwest Ohio. After graduation Dan worked in construction then went on to serve two tours of duty in Vietnam with MCB 62 and the Seabees. Dan was among the men who helped build a major bridge over the Dong Ha Rivers, which later had to be blown as the North Vietnamese streamed southward. The bridge was a recent topic on Ollie North's "War Stories".
After military service Dan attended Career Academy in Columbus which would be a stepping stone to a broadcasting career jobs in Delaware, Marysville, Coshocton, Toledo, Detroit and Youngstown. Dan graduated from Youngstown State in 1981 earning a BS in Advertising and public relations.
In Youngstown Dan has worked for WFMJ Radio, Channel 21, News Radio 570 WKBN, Jacor and Clear Channel Communications.Today Dan is the mid-day talk host on 570 WKBN taking over for legendary talk host Dan Ryan. Dan is also Director of Operations for the Clear Channel cluster of stations in Youngstown.

March 11, 2013 "Move The Parade Back To Youngstown"
At the risk of sticking my nose squarely in St. Patricks Day lore I comment cautiously on the 35th St. Patricks Day Parade. Founded my colleague Pete Gabriel and always held on a day other than St. Patricks day for a variety of reasons, which may not be germain to this conversation?
By all accounts the weather Gods smiled on the Parade for the 3rd time in it's 35 year history and delivered a near perfect March day. Reports say 50,000 thousand attended. I have been there when their were more people parading that watching. In any event it was a great day for Irish heritage. I am still waiting for the Welch parade. That will probably occur right after the someone organizes the opossum day parade.
Their seems to be a not so quite effort to move the parade back downtown, since the downtown now lends itself to restaurants, and tavern's nearby and the all important restrooms.
The parade began downtown 35 years ago on a sparkling Saturday morning and had a nice run, went to Boardman, returned downtown only to go back to Boardman.
Now it seems the city has grown up and would be the perfect spot for a great St. Patrick's day parade. Not only would the downtown area be perfect, dollars to donuts say that many in Boardman would like to see it go. Forming on busy route 7 and traffic not impeded until 20 minutes prior to the parade makes safety dicey and viewing is so strung out, some years you can hear the tumble weeds blow by.
One of the greatest parades in the country is the 500 Festival Parade in Indianapolis, which takes place the day before the Indy 500. Yes downtown Indianapolis. Come on folks it's time to celebrate the re-birth our downtown and move the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade back to Youngstown.
