Would you take a free house if it was offered? My producer told me he was considering moving back into the city from the suburbs. Now all we need is a free house or one that is close to free.
It's unlikely a program currently offered fits the bill but we can dream. Why aren't boards of control, planning commissions, zoning commissions populated by dreamers?
What if their were willing owners, ready to turn the keys and and responsibility of home ownership, over to willing homesteaders? Shouldn't we have a program that gifts un-wanted property to perspective squatters?
A simple computer campaign could bring the parties together. Maybe we do this in lieu of back taxes . The city and county could facilitate by forgiving taxes and past due water bills. The city could stipulate this is not an investment scheme, but a program to re-populate the city and save good homes from the wrecking ball.
My producer isn't really looking for a free home, but I think it's time a program such as this were established. You will hear 16 reasons why it can't be done, such as back taxes, can't find the owner, it's un-lawful, yet when the wrecking ball comes, it will be made acceptable, because it was in-evitable.
Hey I just come up with the ideas , now we need the Samarone administration to find a way, save good homes in the city even if you have to give them away to responsible people that are short on money but long on desire to own a house. Home ownership makes a community stronger we should find a way.
