This story is just developing as our show wraps up. Sharon Sweet teaches as Brevard Community College in Central Florida. A parent complained to university directors that their student was asked to sigh a pledge that they would vote for President Obama and democrats up and down the ticket.  It's unclear if it was a requirement or a request.

Never the less this is not the first case of professors expressing political views in the classroom. However it may be the first time a professor has exacted a promise to vote for a democrat in the classroom. By  the way the 58 year old math teacher has asked for a leave of absence until this incident is fully investigated and sorted out.

Here is my point. It's your classroom, the kids are paying to hear you. If you want to campaign in a math class go ahead. Kids are smart enough to turn you off or drop your class. However if you are asking for a quid pro quo to pass the class, promising that you will vote for President Obama.... that's new ground we are plowing.
