February 3, 2012 "What Chaps my Hide"
Friday 02-03-2012 1:41pm ET

Today I am driving South avenue and waiting to cross 224 on my way to the palatial Clear Channel Complex. Listening to the radio, waiting for  the light to change, I witnessed an unknown driver floor it out of the BP station.

He saw his chance and shot across 4 lanes heading toward the Shell station on the West side of South avenue. He darted between two cars who had a 10 foot gap between bumpers.  He then hooked a Louie and  made to the curb lane. He or she, I couldn't tell,  paused for a moment then floored it down the curb lane and turned right on red. Now heading West on 224 never to be seen again.

I wanted to tail him because I always want to see what these drivers look like. Maybe this driver had a bathroom emergency or worse because if one of the cars had made a sudden movement he would have been toast.

This kind of driving chaps my hide and must be born out of arrogance or stupidity. One quick move by any of the cars would have ruined everybody's day. So that's got my hide chapped, I was thinking about filing a formal complaint Right after I switch off my turn signal which has been on since I left home.

Febuary 2, 2012 "Youngstown Mayor a man of his word"
Thursday 02-02-2012 12:54pm ET

The District of Columbia Mayor could take a lesson from Youngstown Mayor Chuck Samerone. This past week a fed up citizen approached the DC occupiers and began clipping the plastic ties that anchored the blue tarp that has been illegally used to cover a perfectly fine memorial. The nearby park is un-useable because professional riff raff have made it un-desirable to use.

It was different in Youngstown. No nonsense Mayor Charles Samerone, said when you give these people and inch they take a yard, referring to his patience in allowing them to erect a tent on Federal Plaza. Samerone along with his police chief and the backing of city council gave notice to the tent dwellers and burn barrel users to hit the highway.

The occupiers did not take the advice, and the last we heard they were still looking for their tent and burn barrels. The take-away here is, that guys like Samarone and Foley mean what they say and realize the public is tired of being steamrolled by protestors.

You can't say the same in Washington, popular thought is that the mayor and city council in DC support the occupiers. We can revel in fact that middle American values are alive and well in Youngstown. March, protest, speak, then go back to work, don't sleep in the street.

February 1, 2012 Dan Rivers "Grant the President his wish"
Wednesday 02-01-2012 3:38pm ET

How can President Obama get a pass from working men and women? In the the last election, he promised "Hope and Change".  He recently asked for more stimulus money for infrastructure. That's right after he rejected an un-known number of of construction jobs for the Keystone Pipeline.

For the uninitiated, Calgary has 800 thousand barrels of oil they would like to send our refineries daily. Greenpeace and others argue it's an environmental disaster due to a strip mine type of gathering and countless gallons of water used to recover the oil.

Listen to my interview on my February 1st. Podcast. Here is what I think. We should butt out of Canadian affairs and allow the Keystone Pipeline to be built as TransCanada planned. Private money delivering needed oil to American refineries.

Here is the bottom line, Canada has already made the decision to sell "Sand Oil" now the only question remaining; do they build the pipeline to the west coast of Canada and sell it to China or do they sell to their closest allies in the United States.

You tell me how president Obama can talk about public infrastructure jobs and turn down thousands of private construction jobs by rejecting the "Keystone Pipeline". We should all grant president Obama his most recent wish, "Go back to Chicago, hang out at Starbucks without shaving.
